Leave Us Gays Alone

>> Wednesday, March 31, 2010

As predicted, some asswipe with too much time and money on his hand bought a quarter page ad space on the New York Times defending the pope on those recent children molestation scandals.

I wouldn't call him an asswipe, if he had justly defended Vatican or the pope. But as I expected yesterday, Bill Donohue here is saying that it is not pedophilia when most the victims are post-pubescent male, the crisis is instead about homosexuality. A kid can be 12 and still be called post-pubescent, with that logic one could also argue that Father Murphy who raped more than 200 deaf boys did not rape them because they are young boys but because he was attracted to deaf people, so it was a hearing issue. Doesn't matter what you call it, the Catholic church knows about their clergy who vowed for celibacy is raping innocent children and all they did was slapping them on the wrist, transferred them elsewhere and release them to molest children again. It would be fine for a random institution to put a staff with a drinking problem into therapy and then reinstate them back to their jobs once they are recovered, but it won't be fine for a wine distributor to reinstate a wine tester with the same problem back to his/her job.

Leave the gays out of this one, we are no more likely to molest children than any straight folks. Try as you may to change the focus and blame us for implicating the pope, but the fact is hundreds and thousands of children had been raped and sexually abused within the Catholic church and it's still happening today. Fix it, change your policy so you don't have to wait for Vatican to make every decision to defrock a priest, because while you're waiting 10 more kids are going to get raped. As an organization that is supposed to uphold morality, it is really not saying much when you just let these offenders loose again by transferring them elsewhere.

And New York Times... don't just fucking print anything.

---

People seems to be more wrapped up on calling being gay a sin, but ignoring other passages in Leviticus that called for stoning of adulterers, women who's not a virgin on their wedding days, people who eat shellfish and the phrase "Til death do us apart." Of course, they only upheld what's easy and convenient for themselves. There are a lot of people trying to change us and one of the many methods is shock treatment, we have all heard these stories but maybe some straight folks don't realize to what extent gays are tortured and sometimes even murdered just because we're gay. Yes people, there are these so called doctors who will strap electrodes on you and then show you naked pictures why frying the hell out of you just so to condition you to dislike members of the same sex.

One of these so called doctors, Aubrey Levin nicknamed Dr. Shock works in South Africa to "cure" members of the military of their homosexuality. He's a well known rightwinger with a history of homophobia and, of course, he was caught and filmed by his patient to making sexual advances. Since the arrest, dozens of young men had come forward with allegations of sexual assault and abuse. Just goes to show that next time if another self-righteous rightwinger comes out all homophobic, like Ted Haggard, Larry Craig, Roy Ashburn, Mark Foley, Troy King... etc., he's probably a closeted homosexual who's so self-repressed that will end up becoming a pervert.

Don't try to change us, leave us alone!

---

Oklahoma passed a bill to get themselves exempt from the Matthew Shepard Act. The act expands a 1969 hate crime law to include crimes motivated by the victim's actual or perceived gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability. Well, apparently they cited the wrong federal bill number in their legislation and Oklahoma is actually now exempt from federal laws about reporting racial and religious discrimination.

OK.

In trying to strip gays and lesbians of their rights, they have passed a legislation stripping the rights of a different group of minority. Sad but funny. It reminded me of this poem about Nazi Germany.

They came first for the Communists,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist.

Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew.

Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Catholics,
and I didn’t speak up because I was a Protestant.

Then they came for me
and by that time no one was left to speak up. ~ Martin Niemöller

See what happens when you try to discriminate gays? Leave us alone!

---

And leave Ricky Martin, Sean Hayes and James Randi alone. It's not a big surprise and none of use would have cared. It's not like now that they're gay, we can all line up and have out way with them one at a time. Just because Angelina Jolie is straight doesn't mean every straight guys gets to do her, now does it? As SNL's Fred Armisen doing Joy Behar on the view - So what? Who cares?

On The Crumbling of The Catholic Church

>> Tuesday, March 30, 2010

When I was a kid, I was sent to a Catholic boarding school in Macau. It was an all-boy's school and there were lots of priests. I liked them, some are grandfather types, they were all very kind. Even though I was pulled out in half a year having contracted bronchitis after sleeping right in a bed right next to the drafty exit door of the large dormitory hall, I loved the experience so much that I wanted to get baptized and become a Catholic. My grandmother told me that life choices like these should be waited out and see how I feel a little later and it waned, I wouldn't have endured Sunday school anyhow.

I haven't been molested. Not in my Anglican primary school or the Catholic high school. If I were, maybe I would change my whole view of sex. A Mexican acquaintance told me once that he was molested but his priest asked to be fucked, so he didn't feel too much like a victim. Even though I have heard of these molestation stories throughout the years, I have no idea on the extend of it. In the recent news circles, molesting children sounds almost like it's one of their under the table privileges. Other than Dan Savage posting his Youth Pastor Watch segments on Slog, Joe posts his Holy Crimes segments weekly; It's a horror show full of child molestation, extortion, embezzlement, fraud and the occasional drug dealing and murder. It almost seemed that people with inner struggles are more proned to become religious or maybe folks just join the clergy for the tax breaks and the free housing.

How does an organization who aimed to be doing good cash in their good reputation and turn a blind eye to all these life-altering misconduct? Surely they know that just relocating a child molester and a few hail marys are not going to change a person. Are they just praying and hope god will change these people? In the recent scandal, a cleric who worked under the current pope in 1979 took an 11 year-old to a vacation trip. He was then administered alcohol, locked in his bedroom, stripped naked, and forced to suck the penis of his confessor. The current pope's deputy decided to transferred the person to Munich for therapy, then returned him to "pastoral" work, where he soon enough resumed his career of sexual assault. The pope, of course, denied to have knowledge of this incident.

Another scandal involved REv Lawrence C. Murphy in Wisconsin who had raped more than 200 deaf boys in a school for the hearing impaired. The incidents happened between 1950 to 1974. He was going to be on a secret canonical trial that will potentially dismiss him but he wrote two letters to the current pope protesting that he should not be put on trial because he had already repented and was in poor health and that the case was beyond the church’s own statute of limitations. He got his wish. Apparently, Father Murphy not only was never tried by the church, but also got a free pass from the local police and prosecutors who ignored reports from his victims. I mean, Wow! When you're fucking 200 boys, deaf boys at that, it's practically a buffet.

The pope, as we know, is infallible. He's the head of the church and the head of Vatican City, so he cannot be prosecuted. The one thing that drives me mad is how backward the church is and instead of addressing the issues. They will just close their eyes and hope to pray the scandal away. Child molesters will just be transferred to a different location and not prosecuted or discharged. Worse, they will dismiss it as part of homosexuality and blame it on us. The pope cannot look more evil if he tries, I don't think he would even resign and I don't think reverting the celibacy requirement will do any good since Catholicism is now quite synonymous with child molestation. All this would do is probably making people less likely to go to church or join the clergy, or maybe it'll make child molesters more likely to join them. Maybe people would realize that believing in Jesus and God does not necessarily mean you have to go to church, and that's not necessarily a bad thing.

High Demand Asian Guys With British Accents

>> Sunday, March 28, 2010

Lately I've found a few interesting Asian guys in various media so I thought I should share.

Asian guys are very underrepresented in the business of porn, so when one of us decide to do porn we are in high demand. Keni Styles who found himself in one such position is Thai and weighs a mere 130 pounds. Apparently he has already gotten a lot of awards in the UK since he has entered the business. He has a blog here, featuring a lot of his normal life video and that's where I hear his British accent. So far, he's still a hetero porn model with some solo shots on UK Naked Men. Not my cup of tea, but I'm glad to see him representing.

I saw this strikingly handsome Asian guy the other day on Martha Stewart teaching people how to grow their own drugs. Apparently James has made it big in the UK with a TV show and a book called Grow Your Own Drugs. He's Malaysian but grew up in the UK, which explains his sexy accent. He was also spotting a very sexy pencil beard while explaining the benefits of drinking Gingko Biloba tea and making his own habanero pain relieving pads. He's really quite cute.

Speaking of sexy Asian Guys with a British accent, I don't think I can leave out Louis Kwong Jr. who I've found on Flickr, he and his partners snaps a lot of pictures and videos of their sexy, bearish self and their friends. I seriously don't think their is a sexier, cuter, more adorable Asian bear out there. You can see a lot more of Louis here. Louis and his partner lives in the UK, they are both photographers and Louis is also a graphic designer of sort. I'm convinced some drawings in Japan bear magazine G-Men was modeled after Louis. Drooling hot!

Weekend Meme: Negativity Meme

>> Saturday, March 27, 2010

I think I could be very negative at times, so much so that my productivity suffers as a consequence and it could even paralyze me. According to The Secret, or what I think it is, the secret to success is positivity and planning. So maybe if I do learn about The Secret and follow through it, I'll have a bigger chance of success. Meanwhile let's put all our negativity into this meme.

Foods which disgust the crap out of me:
In Hong Kong, we do utilize every part of an animal in cooking including offal. So one time I got around to buy a platter of star anise seasoned chicken hearts home and didn't think much about until I realize how many there were and how many chickens died to form that platter. I don't think I'm gonna eat any more of that anytime soon.

TV show I loathe:
The Housewives of Myriad Places started out fun, I especially like the 54 years old former Playboy Playmate, glamorous, plus-size Jeana and her sexually ambiguous hunk of a son. But it has gotten uglier and uglier each time they change locale and I especially can't fathom the recap sessions with that gay host.

Movie I loathe:
Let's see, I've walked out of a few movies before. Very few, so I guess they would be the movies I loathe. That include ultra-pretentious Otto; or, Up With Dead People and a Thai gay film that was shown in a film festival that turned out to be pure exploitation smut which was also very badly filmed.

Music genres I loathe:
I can't really stand Heavy Metal and Gangster Rap, they are just loud and obnoxious. The themes are more often boasting and angst. They are like egomaniacs that have hidden insecurity issues.

Magazine which annoys me:
The Advocate amongst many others. I tried to like it, because I thought I was supposed to but it's boring activism things that are fully preaching to the choir. It's not journalism if you're not telling me anything new and important. At least give me some entertainment value, right?

Makes me cranky at restaurant:
Slow/bad service drives me off the wall. If you don't have time to serve me, make it a buffet!

Makes me cranky in public:
I have pedestrian rage sometimes. Some people just walk right in front of you on the side walk and stop. Four people to insist on holding hands and walking in one line blocking everybody else. Stroller moms that walk side by side in a gang or have double-wides. I should make some bitchy t-shirts. Can you tell I have a problem?

Makes me cranky in general:
Annoying sounds, screaming kids, loud neighbors singing karaoke until 3 in the morning, car alarm that won't stop.

Pisses me off at home:
Loud neighbors again.

Pisses me off at work:
Mismanagement, unfair treatment, incompetent coworkers.

Pisses me off in general:
Anything that is unfair, discrimination, etc...

Makes me impatient at home:
Usually I'm pretty okay at home. Until some gadget doesn't work or I forgot to get some ingredients from the market.

Makes me impatient at work:
Waiting on someone else to finish a task so I can start my part.

Makes me impatient in public:
I'm usually laid back but I do hate waiting for my turn sometimes.

Celebrity I hate:
There are the Fox News/Limbaugh gang

Music artist I hate:
I don't really hate Kanye, he's a stupid ass but I don't hate him. I do hate no talents that try to make it big but produce crap like that Heidi Montag person. Don't make me listen to you if you can't sing.

I could care less about:
Tiger Woods returning to golf.

Annoys the crap out of me weekdays:
Not being able to have the boyfriend sleep over.

Annoys the crap out of me weekends:
There's too little of it to enjoy with everybody.

Blogger’s habit that annoys you:
I guess for the blogger that make me wait for their posts, I'm obsessive sometimes.

Feature on your blog you hate:
I guess I'd like the reader identifier to be more precise but I don't really hate any of it, or else I wouldn't have put it on.

Movie star you despise:
Tom Cruise and Mel Gibson because they are crazy.

Politician that you hate:
To the folks voted against the Health Care Reform Bill and for the folks that bend over backwards and cut out all the good stuff. At the end, there are still not a single Republicans who voted for the bill so it really wasn't worth cutting all the stuff to compromise now, is it?

Anyhow, have a great weekend!

The Things People Do For $5

>> Friday, March 26, 2010

A friend that dabbles in the stock market has told me that during the depression that the only stock gaining way is the stocks of dollar stores. I thought that makes sense, although these days the dollar stores can't really live up to its name anymore. While there are some things that are still sold for $1, most things are beyond. Five Below are more like it and even then there aren't a lot of quality things to choose from. Occasionally, I would go there for some small boxes of Lego to fuel the boyfriend's obsession or find some cellophane bags to put baked goods in for friends. I like to browse but there's not much there for me, $5 can't really get you much but maybe I've spoke too soon.

Well, some applications on iPod and iPhones are cheap and interesting, especially a lot of games. But what's more is a website called Fiverr full of people trying to sell different service for $5. There's a guy willing to take a picture of him standing in Times Square holding up a sign with your message and send the picture to you for $5. If your girlfriend is angry at you and you don't know why, there's a girl willing to give you a female perspective for $5. Send your picture to this guy and he'll draw you a cartoon version of yourself. There are people from China, California, Colorado, Las Vegas willing to send you a postcard of their cities for $5. Do you want a personalized friendship bracelet? A business card especially designed for you? A company logo? A poem? Rap lyrics? They are all available for $5! I guess in a tough market every $5 helps.

I wonder what services can I provide for $5. Certainly I can cook for someone for $5. Of course that doesn't include the cost of groceries and for $5, it better be something simple and fast. I can knit a thin scarf for $5, maybe fold some origamis or make a rope doll. I have volunteer to teach people computer programs before and I certainly can do that again for $5 a head. Maybe help people with their homework, write a birthday card poem or translate some things in Chinese. Since there are still people getting Chinese Characters for tattoos. Maybe I can recommend and write out Chinese Characters for people to use.

What will you do for $5?

Bothering News (March 2010 Edition)

>> Thursday, March 25, 2010

American Dad over at Talking Points Memo has written a detailed list of Republican wrong-doings and hypocrisy called "An Open Letter to Conservatives". The list is pretty exhaustive and full of references and I think it is a must-read for anyone interested in politics or the state of the country today. Especially when members of congress are receiving death threats and having their properties vandalized for a bill that benefits all Americans. Something has gotta be done about it.

---

It's prom season and Constance McMillen made it big being denied to attend her prom. Her school in Itawamba, Mississippi canceled the entire prom in the name of not wanting to cause distractions to education. Um, that's not how the world works. You're causing distraction just by canceling the prom because a gay student wants to attend and then you're inviting lawsuits which is an even bigger distraction. On top of all, the other students will blame Constance for the canceled prom and further isolate and discriminate against her, which, might be the school's initial intention. If that's the case, these people don't qualify to be called educators, they are scumbags.

After hearing this controversy, Derrick Martin from Cochran, Georgia asked his school board whether he can bring his boyfriend to prom and perhaps having the lawsuits brought to the Mississippi school as an example, they said yes. Derrick is an honor student that tutor other at-risk students and basically a good kid. Since the story broke out he has been getting a lot of Facebook support from people offering to buy him and his date boutonnieres and donating funds for them to rent a limo. Apparently the story is so big that his parents felt they needed to kick him out of the house. He's now staying at a friend's. I keep thinking of reasons why his parents would sever their relationship with their do-gooder of a son, maybe he's better off.

Remember that they called this commercial sexiest?

Turned out it's also untrue.

A Princeton University research team has demonstrated that all sweeteners are not equal when it comes to weight gain: Rats with access to high-fructose corn syrup gained significantly more weight than those with access to table sugar, even when their overall caloric intake was the same.

In addition to causing significant weight gain in lab animals, long-term consumption of high-fructose corn syrup also led to abnormal increases in body fat, especially in the abdomen, and a rise in circulating blood fats called triglycerides. The researchers say the work sheds light on the factors contributing to obesity trends in the United States.

"Some people have claimed that high-fructose corn syrup is no different than other sweeteners when it comes to weight gain and obesity, but our results make it clear that this just isn't true, at least under the conditions of our tests," said psychology professor Bart Hoebel, who specializes in the neuroscience of appetite, weight and sugar addiction.

So read your labels, folks, unless you want to gain weight.

The Flash Mob Phenomenon

>> Wednesday, March 24, 2010

People everywhere are going crazy. Other than the surprisingly stealth action of the teabaggers rushing the U.S. Capitol over the weekend, kids in Philly had stormed South Street and caused violence. Since last May, there has been 6 flash mobs hitting the city; three in South Street, two in the Gallery Mall and one around the City Hall.

Five hundred plus teenagers received tweets to come down to South Street and shown up. I didn't know it the time it happened but when I was out for the Annual Pink Pub Crawl, I did pass by two groups of loud, entitled, semi-aggressive teenagers. It would have been okay if they were peaceful and having fun, no matter how obnoxious they are, but that's not all.

These people were chanting "Black kids burn the city!", while jumping on top of cars, knocking over pedestrians and fighting and cursing. They were calling their friends and asking them to bring their baseball bats, one 17 year old kid in particular was confronting a police officer and tried to hide the handgun that he brought with him. Store owners are forced to protect their customers and some locked their gates earlier. A pizzeria staff was jumped, punched and kicked until he fell on the street and rescued by the owner who was attacked as well. A 27-year-old woman was attacked by a large group of male and female juveniles, kicking and punching her until she fell to the ground, where they continued to kick her in the face and head. Numerous South Street residents reported hearing what they thought were gunshots around midnight. It's obviously bad for business especially in this economy and in a high-rent environment like South Street.

In the past, a 54-year-old man riding his bicycle home from work was critically injured when he beaten by a group of young men. A cabdriver was assaulted and robbed. And two people were pulled from a vehicle, assaulted and robbed. This time around there were only 3 arrests made.

I imagine if it started on Twitter it wouldn't be hard to find the perpetrator, but they do have the rights to congregate. The problem I see is an entitlement issue much like the person who wrote Mommy Rage, they do have the right to be there but they will induce violent when you're in their way. On that night, a teenager try to bump my shoulder and I didn't think twice and walked on. God knows if I had made an issue of it, maybe I'll end up on the floor and robbed until someone found me on the sidewalk and called the police. Since I don't have insurance, I'd be broke and homeless when the debt collectors come knocking.

Where's all this rage comes from? What's the purpose of the flash mobs? Is a real estate mogul behind this to drive down the value of prime South Street real estate? I don't think it will benefit anybody. The store owners are thinking of closing earlier during the weekend. South Street is a popular weekend cruising spots where cars are lining the street and cruising slowly so drivers and passengers can flirt and shout at the pedestrians. If all the stores decide to close early from now on, there won't be any pedestrians walking the street, rendering the area dead and what does that do but produce more boredom and angst?

With so many pictures and videos on these flash mobs, hopefully they will be able to arrest more kids and prosecute them in the fullest extend to make an example out of them. Store owners undoubtedly will be getting some fire arms to protect their properties. Just like a CSI: Miami episode, somewhere down the line the mother of a dead kid will be on TV swearing that her son was a good kid and got shot by mistake and someone should prosecute the store owner for killing someone innocent in the name of self-defense and then people will wonder why the police force hasn't make any effort to stop these things from happening. Maybe then and only then the flash mob phenomenon will stop.

Blog Intro: 27b/6

>> Tuesday, March 23, 2010

I'm not too sure if this is an active blog or not, but David Thorne's 27b/6 has some of the funniest writings I'm read for a long time. I stumbled upon it through the Stranger Slogabout an e-mail exchange between David and a Christian volunteer in the school where David's son Seb is attending. The volunteer has sent out a permission slip to the parents for a presentation on the true meaning of Easter and with the check box pre-filled. Obviously, it doesn't sit well with David, so the hilarity ensued.

The whole exchange really made me laugh. With lines like:

I have received your permission slip featuring what I can only assume is a levitating rabbit about to drop an egg on Jesus.

Also, your inference that I am without religion is incorrect and I am actually torn between two faiths; while your god's promise of eternal life is very persuasive, the Papua New Guinean mud god, Pikkiwoki, is promising a pig and as many coconuts as you can carry.

I understand the importance the resurrection story holds in your particular religion. If I too knew some guy that had been killed and placed inside a cave with a rock in front of it and I visited the cave to find the rock moved and his body gone, the only logical assumption would be that he had risen from the dead and is the son of God. Once, my friend Simon was rushed to hospital to have his appendix removed and I visited him the next day to find his bed empty. I immediately sacrificed a goat and burnt a witch in his name but it turned out that he had not had appendicitis, just needed a good poo, and was at home playing Playstation. [...] has anyone checked his house?

I can only be glad that I'm not in the receiving end of that exchange. After reading most of his posts, I can see that the guy has great wit and writing skills but he's quite relentless and most of the time just looking for someone to fuck with. His main source of amusement seems to be from other people's suffering. Very funny nonetheless.

I don't really know if these e-mail exchanges really did happen or maybe they could all be made up. The outcomes of most of these scuffle always seems to go in David's way since the opponent will eventually get worn out. I guess it's a great technique to have. Every time he goes into one of his outrageous side stories that probably never happened just tickles me pink.

David is selling a compilation of his "work" in a book called The Internet is a Playground and it's getting very good reviews. It's available on Amazon. Though it seems all the material in the book is already available online.

Today is also Ben & Jerry's free cone day between 12 to 8, so go out and get a free cone!

The Health Care Reform Bill Has Passed

>> Monday, March 22, 2010

Big news of the day of course is about the reform bill for health care has passed last night in an extremely low margin of 7 votes. I can't possibly fathom how incredibly low that margin is, which proves that the insurance industry has sunk their claws in deep enough in congress. Seven votes, 212 people rejected the idea of health care reform. As expected, not a single Republican has voted for the reform proven again that pleading bipartisanship doesn't work and will not work for a long time. I'm sure they would rather fabricate, slander and destroy the country than support a single idea that's proposed by the Democrats. Politicians on both sides will do anything to secure contributions and fundings, the Scotus ruling to allow corporate political ads are just making it more obvious.

What's dangerous right now is the masses. Media controlled stark raving crazy masses that will do anything. They managed to get organized under the radar and storm the U.S. Capitol over the weekend. Calling Barney Frank and John Lewis names is small peas, but threatening gun violence is another deal. Apparently the U.S. Capitol security is not really up to par, police officers were not able to handle crowd, they cannot even escort people out. If those nuts can fly a plane into an IRS building, I wouldn't put it pass them to actually bring a gun in and shout a few people. I would hate to see anything happen to the congressmen who upheld social justice. At least the few prominent ones should wear a bullet-proof vest and lay low for the next three months. Seriously.

The opposition side apparently consists wordsmiths and a big list of talking points ready to mislead any idiots that would follow. Harpy Michelle Bachmann was still hinting on how passing the bill equates putting Grandma in an early grave. It's unimaginable that people do follow Fox News like it's a cult, crazy windbag Glenn Beck with a high school diploma is earning $23 Million a year being a loony riling up people with bullshit on TV. There is little justice. If any violence or death do happen because people believe what he said on TV, he could easily brush it off with his First Amendment Right, the violence happened because the government were using totalitarian tactics or that they never advocated for violence. just like Bill O'Reilly brushing off George Tiller's death, these people have no souls or conscience.

There is no telling on how beneficial passing this health care reform bill is to the public but the caviar is to see how Rush Limbaugh will go against his vow to move to Costa Rica when the bill pass. Given, he's already selling his Manhattan Fifth Avenue penthouse and probably loaded enough retire and be treated like a king for the rest of his life in Costa Rica, or he can just broadcast his show from there. But gawd! Wouldn't that be nice? I wouldn't hold Alec Baldwin to his claim of moving to Canada but get Jabba the Hutt outta here!

Weekend Meme: Eight-Tens Meme

>> Sunday, March 21, 2010

Sorry for the light blogging this week, it turned out to be a very busy news week while I was a little bit preoccupied and couldn't conjure up any deep thoughts. (As if I have any, in any other time.) With that train of thought, you should watch this clip from America's Next Top Model. Since nobody made in big from that show, it's getting quite tired and I've stopped watching a few seasons ago but I just can't stop laughing watching the clip. At least watch until the 0:45 mark before giving up. It's HIGH-larious!

Wipe-out!

Pardon me about the schadenfreude, today's meme comes from Sunday Stealing. I'm surprised on how many questions are missing. Were they too personal? Or does it reflect the ability of counting in the country?

TEN TO START.

1. Are you single?
Nope, I've found myself a cute one.

2. Are you happy?
I'm content, which is very close to happiness.

3. Are you bored?
At times, even though I found ways to occupy my time, I also yearn to be able to be productive once again.

4. Are you naked?
Almost, not quite. ; )

5. Are you a blonde?
Nope. I've dyed my hair dark brown but blonde would be too different.

6. Are you moody?
I try very hard not to, but there are things that can pulled at my heart strings.

7. Are you a lover/hater?
Depends on who it pertains to, I try to be a lover.

8. Are you hot/cold?
It's getting warm these days and I dread summer.

9. Are you Irish?
Nope, I wouldn't mind meeting some.

10. Are you Asian?
Yes, I'm VERY Asian.

TEN FACTS.

1. Name:
Paul

2. Nicknames:
Too many to list.

3. Birth mark:
I don't think I have any.

4. Hair color:
Black

5. Natural hair color:
Black

6. Eye color:
Dark Brown/Black

7. Height:
Just about six feet

8. Facebook Mood:
I didn't realize that Facebook has moods, if I have to choose one, it might be "stand-offish".

9. Favorite color:
Hmm... I guess it'd be blue.

10. One Place to Visit:
Not understand this, my favorite place that I've ever been would be Mitsuwa Supermarket at Edgewater, NJ.

TEN THINGS ABOUT YOUR LOVE LIFE.

1. Do you believe in love at first sight?
I could be starstruck, but you really have to get to know a person to know whether it works.

2. Do you believe in soul mates?
I think I do, there are a lot of people sharing very similar life-paths out there and the same ideas and thoughts could echos within more than one person.

#3 Missing

4. Have you ever been hurt emotionally?
Oh yeah, it'll be hard to find people that has never been hurt before.

5. Have you ever broken someone’s heart?
I guess so, I do regret some decisions I've made but when things don't work out, I have no problem breaking things off. Life is short, it makes no sense for any of us to suffer for an extended period of time, we all need to find our own happiness.

6. Have you ever been cheated on?
Sure. Things happen. None of us are perfect.

7. Have you ever liked someone and not told them?
Definitely. Being gay has a draw back and I don't think you need to jump on everyone that attracts you.

8. Are you afraid of commitment?
Not really. In this modern time you can always break up.

9. Who was the last person you hugged?

On Changing History and The Time Continuum

>> Friday, March 19, 2010

This is a little belated piece on daylight savings time and the Texas textbook incident.

As Rachel Maddow explained, daylight savings time really doesn't have any benefits, especially in this day and age. Maybe it was once upon a time helpful to farmers or help save energy somehow, but how many of us are farmers? Everything can be digitalized and computerized so energy can be controlled. As nice as still seeing sunlight after work sounds, businesses can change their opening hours. A lot of restaurants and other businesses do have different hours in summer, there is NO need to change the record of time continuum in order to facilitate things. It is especially confusing when people propose to advance or postpone changing the time for an X amount of weeks.

One year, I was traveling in the suburbs for a meeting and since I was quite a hermit that doesn't watch the news and go to church, I somehow missed that it was daylight savings time and was shocked when I found out I have missed my train and horrified when I got their an hour late. I do think it does more harm than good.

Perspective is a funny. Different people have different interpretation on how history happened. A few years ago, there was a controversy on Japanese scholars changing their history textbooks to downplay Japan's role in World War II. Nobody like to play villain I'm sure, but what happened happened, you can either treat it like the elephant in the room or just embrace and learn from it.

The situation in this country is a bit crazy. Instead of having a country with two political parties, the two parties are at such odds that they feel the need to infiltrate a school board, lobby the hell out of it and attempts to change what history is for the future generations.

Here's just a few of the textbook changes approved by the Texas State Board of Education.

-The Board removed Thomas Jefferson from the Texas curriculum's world history standards on Enlightenment thinking, “replacing him with religious right icon John Calvin.”

-"Teachers in Texas will be required to cover the Judeo-Christian influences of the nation's Founding Fathers, but not highlight the philosophical rationale for the separation of church and state." “I reject the notion by the left of a constitutional separation of church and state,” said David Bradley, a conservative from Beaumont who works in real estate. “I have $1,000 for the charity of your choice if you can find it in the Constitution.”

-The Board refused to require that “students learn that the Constitution prevents the U.S. government from promoting one religion over all others.”

-McCarthyism will be taught as an example of how communism was rooted out of the federal government.

-Students will learn about the "patriot movement" of the 1980s and 1990s, including Phyllis Schlafly, the Contract With America, the Heritage Foundation, the Moral Majority and the National Rifle Association.

-"Board members also rejected requiring history teachers and textbooks to provide coverage on the late U.S. Sen. Edward Kennedy and new Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, while the late President Ronald Reagan was elevated to more prominent coverage."

So every influential organization will have to beware of these people making their way in and changing things to their likings? I wonder what is the qualifications to become the member of these board of educations.
"Board member Barbara Cargill, R-The Woodlands, objected to a standard for a high school sociology course that addressed the difference between sex and gender. It was eliminated in a 9-to-6 vote. She worried that a discussion of that issue would lead students into the world of 'transvestites, transsexuals and who knows what else.'

"Members voted to polish up references to the American 'free enterprise' economic system and removed most mentions of 'capitalism,' a word that board member Ken Mercer, R-San Antonio, said has a negative connotation."

It's almost democracy in its fullest, if you can get your friends together, you can get into the board of education to change whatever you see fits too. Should we be afraid of Scientologists pulling the same schtick and demands the teaching on Xenu in textbooks? How could the State board of education has the power to do such a thing and why the US department of education not stepping in? Aren't we doing "the children" serious disservice but subjecting them in such nonsense?

What If The Pumpkin King Took Over St. Patrick's Day?

>> Thursday, March 18, 2010

When out with the boyfriend to have a St. Patrick's night drink. It was fun, we checked out a new bar in the neighborhood called Tabou, very nice space. The place was a seedy dump before and somehow it got revamped into a decent, maybe even classy joint, I wouldn't mind going back again.

Looking through my clothes, I really don't have anything green other than a ratty t-shirt. I always thought that green doesn't look good on Asians, I guess it depends on the shade. Maybe I'll actively scout out for something in a nice shade of green, get ready for next year's St. Patrick's Day.

Classics Remixed

>> Wednesday, March 17, 2010

Watch as your beloved literary classics revamped with a major twist. I predict Moby Dick: The Porno Years, Little Schizophrenic Women and The Lycanthropic Adventures of Tom Sawyer.

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: Dawn of the Dreadfuls

Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

The production values of these clips are surprisingly good. I think if they can drag the whole thing out, they could be Asylum Films and get aired on FX/Syfy. I'll definitely watch.

Movie Review: Alice in Wonderland (3D)

>> Sunday, March 14, 2010

Seems like all the movies I see these days are 3Ds, I wonder why. It's oddly uncomfortable watching movies with a pair of glasses over my existing glasses, anyway.

Quirky, free-spirited 19 year-old Alice is forced to attend a party where a local lord with bad digestion problem asked her for her hand of marriage. Her father has just died and the family business needed someone in a prestigious position to take over, so the family looked forward to the union. During the party, Alice spotted a rabbit wearing a long coat and stumbled into the big rabbit hole after chasing after it. Having forgotten her previous adventure, Alice goes back into the world of Wonderland and starts another adventure.

Tim Burton continues his obsessions with Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter who play the Mad Hatter and the Red Queen capably. Surprisingly, Anne Hathaway's Wonkaesque White Queen fits quite nicely into the Burton world and so is Matt Lucas' Tweedledee and Tweedledum. No doubt, there will be a chance for us to see them in future Burton projects. The story is a loose adaptation of the book, Mia Wasikowska who plays the title character seems like the plainest, most innocent girl in this bizarre world. The contrast might be a bit too severe, since as a lead actress one should project at least some charms which she seems to have been lacking.

The story itself is not an obvious one. Aside from having a lot of dialogue being unclear, the protagonist was assigned with a task that she refused but somehow was forced to follow the steps laying in front of her. She lacked a clear purpose or an personality. It's like she's a ragged doll waiting for the storyline to commence, the special effects to take hold. The world surrounds her was interesting and entertaining, Johnny Depp and HBC have the odd gifts of making the most unbelievable characters believable, even though Mad Hatter goes through serious length of illegible self-mumblings. To make the movie climactic, it brought a monster for Alice to fight, which I slightly detest simply because it seems to follow a artificial preset Hollywood formula but I don't really know how I would feel if they go without it.

Aside from a good cast, what saves the movie were Wonderland where fishes walk swishily on land, where little talking mouse has the courage to aim for the eyes of big monsters. The CGI is amazing and essential in the whimsical Burton world. With a hidden self-empowerment message, fans of the Narnia series will enjoy this movie. B-

Weekend Meme: Judd's Merged Meme

>> Saturday, March 13, 2010

Updates on my relationship:

Over the course of a week, I've stooped in a bit of depression and was a little obsessed about the boyfriend. The fact that we couldn't have a clear break up with things between us still left hanging. I was outside taking care of some mailings for a small business venture between us selling books that doesn't yield enough to cover a bar tab and lo and behold if I should only bump into him on the street.

He was clearly debating whether he should wait for me so we can walk together to our respective homes right across the street from each other and I could only laugh because he was the last person I wanted to see but all that I can think about. So we caught up with each other like we wanted to but can't. And then we started patch things up...

Of course, I'm not naive enough to think that all our problems are gone. There are a lot of work and struggles still ahead, but at least we do want to be together and maybe we won't give up as easily in the future. We'll take it one day at a time and see how it goes.

Thanks for anyone who cared.

Anyhow, this week's meme is brought to you by Judd at Sunday Stealing.

1. What were doing 10 years ago?
In the year 2000... I guess I was studying for my graduate degree in Drexel and attending the Flower Show.

2. Five snacks that you enjoy in a perfect, non weight-gaining world That's easy, I love ice creams, chocolates, french fries, pastries and meat (preferably on a stick)

3. Five things you would do if you were a billionaire:
Buy a nice condo/duplex somewhere in a tall building, open up a restaurant, travel, go back to school for something leisure, change my whole wardrobe.

4. Three of your habits:
Keep a light on at home always, rounding up/down restaurant tab and tips to the nearest number, turning the TV on whenever I get home.

5. Five jobs that you've have had:
I was a waiter, housekeeper for a hotel for a summer, a door-to-door surveyor, a quality assurance editor for a survey company, and an IT manager.

6. Five places that you've lived:
Hong Kong, Macau, Paris, Providence and Philly.

7. Five things that you did yesterday:
Took care of some mailings, saw Alice in Wonderland, went to Applebee's for dinner, got heckled by a comedian doing a show by said Applebee's and went to a bear art show in town.

8. Five people you would want to get to know more about:
A local bartender, one ex-bartender, a random guy I saw last night that seemed to be filling his pants quite nicely, the Burkman Brothers and apparently Constance McMillen's dad. Or did you literally mean "get to know"?

9. Abortion: for or against it?
For! Overpopulation, poverty, freedom of choice, not everyone is ready for this kind of responsibility and why make the kid suffer... etc, etc.

10. Do you think the world would fail with a female president?
Of course not, we survived Bush, we could survive any other "Bushes". And one president could hardly fail THE WORLD.

11. Do you believe in the death penalty?
I believe in it, not sure about the people executing it.

12. Do you wish marijuana would be legalized already?
Yeah, why the hell not? If it's good enough for the indigenous people, who am I to say it's not right while living in their land?

For! I don't need no virgins who doesn't know what he's doing.

14. Do you think same sex marriage should be legalized?
Duh!

15. Do you think it's wrong that so many Hispanics are illegally moving to the USA?
It does drive the minimum wage down, other than that I don't see any harm.

16. Should the alcohol age be lowered to eighteen?
Yes, but not until there are proper DUI education set in.

17. Should the war in Iraq be called off?
It's a bit too late for that now.

18. Assisted suicide is illegal: do you agree?
No, again overpopulation, freedom of choice, etc, etc... Instead of having them be poor, not be able to afford their own health and other care, eating cat food and ignored by their children, they should be allow to leave with dignity.

19. Do you believe in spanking your children?
Yes, there is a difference between child abuse and physical punishment. True, the line would be blurry but I came out okay.

20. Do you worry that others will judge you from reading some of your answers?
People will judge but those are my opinion so the hell with it.

Music Invasion: Lady Gaga Ft. Beyonce "Telephone"

>> Friday, March 12, 2010

This song was out before New Year's and they are just getting around to post the music video. Since this week it's pretty much video week here, I guess it's proper. Just a warning first, it's like more than 9 minutes long and not quite safe for work.

I have to say this is one of the few times, I feel like using the word Fierce. There's quite a bit of in-your-face exhibitionism in this. Just so to rebut the rumor that Lady Gaga has a dick, she's wearing extremely skimpy outfits to intentionally jam her crotch dead and center to the camera for you to see. She's demonstrating her lesbianism by macking on another prisoner. I've never dreamt of seeing a pair of glasses made out of burning cigarettes. Her look dancing in the prison corridor is the prettiest I've seen her yet even though the outfit reminisce an earlier Madonna. Beyonce also looks better than she ever did on the motel bed with her blue jacket or chewing a sandwich in the beginning. Even thought the song has little to do with the video, I still thought it's all around quite solid, though the product placement is a bit too in-your-face as well.

Music doesn't start until around 2:50 mark.

Does every one of her videos involve killing a man?

Music Invasion: In My Life

>> Tuesday, March 09, 2010

There are places I remember
All my life though some have changed
Some forever not for better
Some have gone and some remain

All these places have their moments
With lovers and friends I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life, I've loved them all

But of all these friends and lovers
There is no one who compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning
When I think of love as something new
Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life, I love you more

Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life, I love you more

In my life, I love you more

Another Breakup

>> Monday, March 08, 2010

I will not say anything bad about him after our break up yesterday. Even though I think it was the wise thing to do in my head, in my heart I still have tremendous love for him. There were a lot of struggles between us, of me wanting more and him wanting his freedom, but there were also a lot of brilliant and tender moments between us. He was my best friend for a long, long time. I'm sure in the following week when his friend learns the news, each and everyone of them will tell him that he can do better and of course he could. In my mind, I still believe that he's one of the most intelligent, adorable and best looking people I've ever lay my eyes on. We're just not compatible, we just want different things and both our pride renders us unable to budge.

While I was trying to be strong, thinking we should end it sooner before all the resentment on each other start building up, I was also kicking myself for ending the best thing that has happened to me for a long time. I was also scared. we were unable to give what the other person wants, so it was the wise thing but the panic didn't set in until I realized the implications of it all.

For two random people, what exactly constitute a relationship? What is so unique that it differentiates from everything else? How do you know love truly existed? I have loved, gave my all and fought for it but it wasn't enough, I don't know how it could have turned out differently. I will love him always and I hope he finds someone good enough for him, it will be hard to live for myself again.

On Chatroulette

>> Sunday, March 07, 2010

After watching all the hype on Chatroulette, it made me want to see what all the fuss was about. So I went and checked it out.

The site was launched by a 17-year old from Russia, and it is basically an application where they link random people with or without video cams together and form an often very temporary connection. You get to see who you're chatting with and what their environment is like and they got to see you too, and if you don't find each other particularly interesting or the conversation is over, there is a button where you can press for the next random encounter.

Within the first 5 minutes, I saw 3 screens asking me to show them my boobs. The world of Chatroulette is filled with bored teenagers drinking, lying on coaches or older gentlemen that are trying to show their junks. It's like stumbling in a dorm of highschoolers all bored with nothing to do, hoping the next person passing by will entertain them somehow. That and pleas for boobs and older gentlemen's junks.

There were a few groups of teenagers having Chatroulette parties using the site to find something to laugh or gross out about and that seems to be the best utilization and attitude about the site but I cannot find a place for me on it. The few people that saw me yelled out "You're Asian", "Chink", "Do you want to be on Jon & Kate?" or "Hell, no!", like they have never saw an Asian before. Or maybe they haven't but my prediction is either the site will be so filled with porn that it will lose its original purpose or "Adults" will start using it and it would be soon deemed uncool. We'll see.

A bit on the lame side but the end is surprisingly poignant

Weekend Meme: Nosy Meme

>> Saturday, March 06, 2010

A day that started out to be great turned out disastrously. I don't know what happened between me and the boyfriend but apparently everything I say annoys him and renders me a snarky remark, I don't know how to communicate with him anymore. Something has changed, maybe I'm getting too predictable and tiring. Either way, it's unhappy and dreadful. It's baffling because the day started out so nicely, I got a free meal from a restaurant that's doing a promotional event and who wouldn't be happy from a free meal? We went to art museum and browsed around and also attended a concert by Miho Hatori who's known as Noodle of the band Gorillaz and also half of the duo Cibo Matto. I loved Viva La Woman and was glad to be able to shake her hand and take a picture with her. Then I went to have some sushi which I was craving for a whole week and then went to a gathering at a friend's place and had a pretty good time, so I really don't understand the hostility. I give a lot when I'm in a relationship, but I don't want to be a doormat that gets push around. Aye, sorry for venting.

The Empire Strikes Back

Promoting gay-bashing? What are you talking about?

The battle between the gays and the religious right is heating up. Congratulations to the gay folks in DC who are finally able to get married. On the Don't Ask Don't Tell front, there's also news of a repeal finally in the process. Things are looking up.

Of course, the religious right is flipping out. To avoid giving gay people equal treatment, Catholic charities in DC has ended all spousal benefits so they do not have to recognize gay marriage. They had also put an end to an adoption program, some they don't have to refer children to gay couples. I'm sure there is some "blame the gays for ruining things for everyone" factor into it, just don't tell me the Christians equate doing good because it doesn't.

Case and point:

These crazy people calling themselves Repent Amarillo is picketing a swing club, following swingers in vehicles and sticking video cameras into people’s faces, calling the employers, employees, and families of its patrons in order to wreck their jobs and home lives. These are consenting adults here, they are not harming anyone, why do these people feel like they have the rights to stick their nose in everything? Good thing there's always Craigslist, unless they false advertise and lure people to them for condemnation. Next, they plan to target gay bars, porn shops, strip clubs, and other sex-related businesses. In high school, I've learned that bullies won't stop until there's an authority righting the wrongs or you fight back. Just like dealing with this bitch here (who was accused for molesting children...)

If you need more proof, American Family Association's Bryan Fischer is quoting the bible saying that the Sea World staff should die because of their killer whales has killed more than one person. It's in the bible, folks. It's always the god fearing people, the fear mongers using the scare straight tactics, isn't it?

In Virginia, a woman was handing out leaflet to young girls quoting bible verses telling them that god will judge them for the way they dress. condemn the way they dress and says if they attract men and get raped, they are but willing participants. Ok batshit. But you have to kinda thank people like that for saying crazy shit so you know you're still sane by comparison, I just wish there weren't so many of them.

If it weren't for people like them, we would have missed out on how official Papal Gentleman in Vatican uses choir boys like a Senator uses a page. For sex. Gay homosexual dirty, dirty going-to-hell sex.
