Nothing to Report...
>> Wednesday, June 09, 2010
There are a few news items in these few days but everybody already reported on it and I don't really feel that strongly about them so there's really nothing much for me to say here.
Lady Gaga's latest video "Alejandro" is out, if you have had the patience to watch it, you'll notice that's it's like a homage to Madonna even though it didn't say so. I see "Vogue", "Don't Cry For Me Argentina", "Express Yourself", "Erotica", "Vogue". Not saying it's an homage makes it seem shady. I'm sure even if Lady Gaga tries to position herself as the next Madonna, Madge will not easily give it all up.
I don't get why at this point Lady Gaga is still producing a video, a video for a song that doesn't mean much and won't be a big hit. If people didn't buy her album at the past year, won't pick it up just because of another video. Maybe she's looking to sell a compilation of her music video. Any other artist will be working on a new album to solidify their status by now.

Elton John sung at Rush Limbaugh's fourth wedding in Palm Beach for the sum of $1 Million. There's no man viler than Rush Limbaugh and for Elton John to sing on his wedding makes Elton John quite the sellout but of course I didn't expect any more from Elton John. I have liked his music but I have never liked his voice or his attitude. The million dollar is rumored to go to his foundation to help people with HIV, but we wouldn't know if it is or how much will be skimmed off the top.

Watch the first two minutes and a half. Not that I'll claim that Stephen Colbert's data or the analysis is sound, but I had suspected that the aim of BP wasn't to plug up the oil leak but to find a way to not harm the mechanism of the oil drill and collect the oil somehow. And it seems like they have enlarged the opening of the broken pipe just so they can siphon the oil to a tanker. The oil is still leaking and it's not solving the problem at all, so if it's not to stop the leak what's the point?

The gay Malawi couple who wants to get married were arrested, tortured and sentenced to 14 years in prison just for being gay. After the incident got international news coverage, the Malawi government has pardoned and released the couple. Merely ten days after being pardoned one of them Steven Monjeza has dumped the other one Tiwonge Chimbalanga and opt to marry a woman. Steven has held a news conference saying:
"We were pardoned but I know the law can bounce back on us if we are not careful. Although I claimed that I still love Tiwo, I did not mean it. I have never had sex with him as was revealed in court. That is why the medical examination failed to establish any anal penetration. I was coerced into the whole thing"It is quite sad. Though unless we can smuggle them out of their country and guarantee asylum, there's nothing we can do. They have to live in their country constantly being ridiculed by their family, friends, neighbors and the whole country. While we can say that it's a pity for them to pretend to be straight for the rest of their lives, given where they live it might just be the best solution to everything. They don't have a choice. Being openly gay is a luxury.

This "Make Homosexual Marry" video certainly is humorous but it doesn't necessarily leave a good taste in my mouth. I'm sure marriage has its upside too, if not why would we fight so hard for it?

It's about time for Helen Thomas to retire. it's admirable that she stuck with her job for song long, too bad she has to go on a bad note.

That's it for now.
